Technology Overview

Hi-G-Tek utilizes full 2-way Pro-Active RFID communication with miniaturized battery-operated electronic tags, seals and locks. Using these components, Hi-G-Tek readers can execute commands much more reliably, even in severe environments. The readers and end devices cover areas as large as a few hundred meters that can be monitored from remote centers over long time periods.

A UNIQUE CHIP-SET

By applying Hi-G-Tek's expertise in microelectronics and battery-operated devices, its chip-set compares to the state-of-the-art mobile phone chip-sets in terms of complexity, functionality and performance. Hi-G-Tek uses only a fraction of the mobile phone’s current, power consumption and makes only minor concessions to sensitivity and fidelity.

Hi-G-Tek's device's monitoring functions and the low frequency circuitry used for close range communication are integrated in the chip-set, which helps maintain low overall manufacturing costs. The chips operate seamlessly with the long-range high frequency communication channel. Component and assembly cost is minimized by integrating the antenna in the PC board and with the chip-set.

A sophisticated programmable chip manager is applied to satisfy the contradictory requirements of low risk integration and faultless low power uninterrupted operation of all device functions. Complex micro-controller software algorithms, communication protocols and scheduling are employed to optimize the capabilities of the integrated circuit and to keep the PCB component count and power consumption to a minimum, ultimately lowering costs and optimizing battery life.

PATENTS

Hi-G-Tek has 25 current or pending patents. These patents provide a technological barrier in a myriad of applications. Notably, Hi-G-Tek's broad patent on Electronic Security Sealing Device provides exclusive ‘field of use’ coverage in active technology for RFID asset protection and secured cargo in the transportation markets and non-exclusive coverage in pure backscattering, low cost electronic tagging markets.
