Who is Hi-G-Tek?Hi-G-Tek is the developer of a new active-RFID platform for real-time monitoring and control of critical physical assets. Our company is commercializing patented technology that enables low power, cost-effective wireless solutions for monitoring, assessing and protecting high-value physical assets and sensitive materials. Our unique solutions provide unprecedented levels of real-time security and “sensing” of key assets, whether stationary or in transit, indoors or outdoors. Hi-G-Tek technology not only detects “where” an asset is, but also detects what an assets “status” or “condition” is, in real time, from anywhere in the world. For example, a customer in the U.S. will be alerted immediately if a hatch, valve, or container on a fuel tanker in Colombia is tampered with, or if the temperature, pressure or volume of the cargo is currently outside normal limits. When combined with asset location or any common long-range communication system, such as cellular, radio or satellite, Hi-G-Tek products immediately deliver the mission-critical data about the asset to the customer's fingertips so that timely decisions can be made to protect the value of that material. Hi-G-Tek’s products can also bring added features to customers who already have some type of physical asset-management infrastructure. What do we offer? Our company’s complete monitoring/sensing solution incorporates unique electronic seals, identification tags, locks, data readers, sensors, control software and data-collection components. Hi-G-Tek’s Hi-G-Tags™, Hi-G-Locks™, and Hi-G-Seals™ are active-RFID devices. Each device containing two complete sets of receivers and transmitters, a real-time clock, a CPU, memory for data processing and decision-making, as well as analog circuitry for full sensing capability. These devices do more than just indicate presence, as in most RFID systems. They really are “sensors” on the network providing real-time information about the state of the asset. These devices can communicate with both the data reader and each other simultaneously over distances of several hundred meters. How does our technology work?RFID monitoring is based on an active two-way communication channel that enables simultaneous data exchange, system control and configuration. Active RFID means the tag, seal or lock on the observed physical asset has a power source, in our case, an embedded battery.
To do this, a read/write command and/or change of mode of operation could be issued by the control center allowing the tag to update and increase its reporting times. By updating the tag in process you wouldn’t have to physically return the tag to the writing or starting point. This means improved security and management and greater operational efficiency. The Hi-G-Tek differentiationHi-G-Tek’s precise, rugged construction provides monitoring beyond simple identification and location. It determines changes of status or condition to such critical assets as food, fuel, pharmaceuticals, electronics or military supplies.
For example, there is real-time sensing of such factors as:
We also require less power than competitive systems resulting in a promise of many years of uninterrupted operation. The power drain on the long-life battery within each device is lessened through an efficient communication protocol between Hi-G-Tek’s data readers and all devices in the system. And, for the first time, the sensors deliver full visibility from the physical asset to the control center. Hi-G-Tek, in essence, is electronically extending our senses: We not only can “see” an asset, but also “touch”, “taste” and “smell” it as if it were right in front of us. Explain “less power"Advanced technology is used to ensure long battery life time for indoor and outdoor conditions. This unique know-how includes special integrated electronic circuitry to assure stable sensing as well as communication (monitoring) over the temperature range as well as through the whole lifecycle of a battery. From the world of military devices as well as medical pacemakers and hearing aids, special unique electronic designs and compensating circuitries were integrated with the seals, tags and electronic locks solutions to ensure constant operation by compensation for temperature changes and management of degradation of battery performance through its life time. At the same time, a unique air protocol was developed to allow power preservation with smart commands, such as advanced "sleep" combined with "wake-up" mode of operation in between messaging. Hi-G-Tek provides a unique comprehensive solution for full integration of real-time sensing and monitoring in battery-operated devices. Our estimates indicate that the unique Hi-G-Tek solution is consuming about 40% less power which means a product life time measured in years instead of months. |
