Hi-G-Tek Wins 2009 SmartCEO Emerging Growth Award

Firm recognized as one of the fastest growing companies in the Greater Washington Area

Rockville, Md. – January 21, 2009 -- Hi-G-Tek (www.higtek.com), a developer of highly intelligent sensing and security solutions for monitoring high-value cargo and sensitive materials, today announced the company received the prestigious Washington SmartCEO magazine/BDO Seidman LLP 2009 Emerging Growth Award. The award recognizes emerging companies in the greater Washington area that have experienced significant revenue and employee growth.

An awards gala for SmartCEO’s Emerging Growth Award winners will be held alongside the Fourth Annual SmartCEO Future 50 event, which celebrates the area’s 50 fastest growing companies. The black-tie dinner will be held January 29, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency Bethesda in Bethesda, MD and will feature keynote speaker Kevin Payne, president and CEO of DC United. The award recipients are profiled in the January issue of Washington SmartCEO magazine.

“Each Emerging Growth winner has demonstrated remarkable growth and traction in a short period of time,” said Craig Burris, publisher, SmartCEO magazine. “We are honored to recognize Hi-G-Tek as one of the fastest growing emerging companies in Greater Washington – and have full confidence that we will be hearing even bigger and better things from our Emerging Growth winners in the years to come.”

“While Emerging Growth companies are young in conventional terms, each has already achieved astounding levels of success and is poised for even greater growth going forward,” adds Tony Cord, managing director, strategic development at BDO Seidman LLP, title sponsor for the 2009 Future 50 Program.

“Hi-G-Tek is excited to be chosen by SmartCEO as an Emerging Growth winner in the greater Washington area,” said Larry Blue, president and CEO, Hi-G-Tek. “In the past three years, our company has achieved tremendous success and growth and we attribute this to our ability to deliver pro-active information solutions for our customer’s asset transport monitoring and status needs. This, coupled with a client focused implementation team, has helped us to develop a strong brand name and deep customer loyalty.”

Washington SmartCEO magazine is a regional “growing company” publication. SmartCEO believes that a “growing company” is determined by the spirit, drive and dynamics of a company's owners and managers, rather than by the size of its building, the number of its employees or its sales volume. Each month, a variety of businesses, in the greater Washington and greater Baltimore areas, turn to SmartCEO’s pages for features, case-study advice and trend analysis, all with a uniquely local flavor. SmartCEO is read by more than 34,000 business owners in Baltimore and Washington.
