Hi-G-Tek’s Larry Blue to Speak at Manufacturing Data Management Conference

November 11 speech will focus on RFID solutions in the chemical and fuel distribution industries

Rockville, Md. -- October 14, 2008 -- Hi-G-Tek (www.higtek.com), a developer of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) sensing and control solutions for tracking high-value cargo and sensitive materials, today announced that the company’s CEO, Larry Blue, will speak at the upcoming Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) Manufacturing Data Management Conference. His speech – scheduled for 3:45 P.M. (CDT) on November 11, 2008 – is intended to demonstrate the varied applications of RFID in liquid logistics industry applications.

The Society of Manufacturing Engineers, the world’s leading professional organization for advancing manufacturing knowledge, convenes the Manufacturing Data Management Conference to provide attendees with first-hand knowledge from industry leaders regarding the implementation of RFID, RTLS (real-time location systems) and data management systems, and how these technologies can impact companies growth potential. The conference will be held November 11-12, 2008 at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

Blue’s speech will cover the fast-growing area of active-RFID and is meant to show that, although RFID has been historically utilized for tracking solid objects, such as equipment, pallets and cases, it is increasingly being used to monitor and secure liquid cargoes, such as fuel and chemical products. The presentation will highlight how Hi-G-Tek’s specific solution decreases theft, increases control and accurately measures the distribution of fuel and other liquids in the supply chain.

“I am honored that the Society of Manufacturing Engineers has invited me to speak at the Manufacturing Data Management Conference,” said Blue. “Hi-G-Tek has devoted a significant amount of time and energy exploring the implications and advancements of active-RFID technology, and applying these research and development efforts directly to our solutions. Active-RFID technology is becoming increasingly important as fuel prices rise and the theft of high-value products increases dramatically. Surrounded by the industry’s top leaders and providers of supply-chain solutions, this conference is an unparalleled opportunity to discuss with industry colleagues about RFID’s possibilities in the modern supply chain.”
